Osama Chandio

Osama Chandio is the Chairman of the Free Journalist Foundation (FJF), where he leads efforts to provide free and high-quality education to underserved communities across Sindh. Since 2021, he has transformed FJF’s operations, focusing on transparency, academic excellence, and long-term social impact. Under his leadership, FJF has grown into a respected educational organization known for both scale and quality.

Managing Impactful Education Programs

As Chairman, Osama oversees the operations of four fully-funded schools and two AALTP (Adolescent & Adult Learning & Training Program) centers across Hyderabad and Jamshoro. These include Zakia Model School in Hyderabad, and Sindh Public School, Mehran Model School, and Zarina Model School in Kotri. The two AALTP centers serve youth and adults who previously missed out on formal education.

All institutions under his leadership offer free tuition, books, and learning materials. More than 2,500 students are enrolled across these campuses, supported by a dedicated team of over 100 staff members. Osama plays a key role in strategic planning, budgeting, compliance, community outreach, and the consistent delivery of quality education.

Academic Background

Osama holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Bahria University Karachi, where he graduated with a GPA of 3.5. His academic focus included modern subjects such as digital marketing and brand management, which now help him shape FJF’s outreach and institutional identity. His academic training is deeply reflected in his professional leadership style—data-driven, brand-conscious, and result-oriented.

Awards and Recognition

Osama has received widespread recognition for his leadership and service to education. In 2024, he was honored with the Best Educationist Award for his outstanding contributions to educational access and school development. The Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) awarded him a Certificate of Appreciation for exemplary results during the IBA-conducted performance evaluations of SEF-assisted schools.

His work in tech-led education initiatives earned him official appreciation from Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, former Chief of the Naval Staff of Pakistan, for a software-based project that supported public education. He was also recognized by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah for developing and leading a strategic youth engagement initiative through digital tools.

On the international stage, Osama earned two certificates from the Government of China for his performance in Chinese language training and qualified the Youth Chinese Test, strengthening his global outlook. He was also a national participant in the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA)—an international platform for young changemakers working at the intersection of business and impact.

Uplifting Community Role Models

Osama is also the founder and host of the FJF Role Model Awards, an annual ceremony that honors educators, social workers, youth activists, and community leaders from across Sindh. These widely attended events serve as a celebration of service and achievement, featuring guests such as Deputy Commissioners, Senior Police Officials, Assistant Commissioners, MNAs, MPAs, and respected NGO leaders. The event reflects his commitment to spotlighting real change-makers and creating a culture of community recognition.
